 The Values Education Council was established to promote and develop values education and values in education and to help individuals develop as responsible and caring persons and live as participating members of a pluralist society. |

to promote dialogue about, and awareness of, values and their application in education and society;
to provide a network to facilitate the exchange of information and discussion;
to provide a framework within which Council members can work together with those responsible for public policy in education and related fields;
to support those engaged in values education.

Full membership is open to organisations whose primary aims and purposes are consistent with those of the Council. One representative from full member organisations will have voting rights at any Council meeting. Associate membership, without voting rights, is open to other organisations and individuals who have an interest in values and wish to support the Council. Applications for membership of the Council will be considered by the Executive Committee, in the first instance, and will then be referred, with the Committee's recommendation, to the Council for ratification. |
